PROJECT STATEMENT
For my With Love Halston project in collaboration with Lochcarron Textiles, I explored the idea of character-building, both in Halston’s mythic persona and in my own subconscious self-construction. This theme guided my research, alongside my passion for translating personal, emotional, and abstract ideas into artisanal fashion.
Inspired by Halston’s design process, I looked to nature and geometry as bridges between my introspective themes and tangible fashion forms. To make the collection undeniably Scottish, I studied the work of Scottish artists, identified key aesthetic elements, and integrated them into my designs through textile choices, pattern development, and historical references to Scottish dress.
The final collection is a fusion of Halston’s design language, Scottish cultural aesthetics, and my personal conceptual interests—all filtered through a commercial lens, aimed at a young audience with an appreciation for heritage and craftsmanship.
THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN SELECTED AS A FINALIST IN THE WITH LOVE HALSTON X LOCHCARRON COMPETITION 2025. The coat selected for JUDGEMENT is a coat-cape hybrid, constructed from a single pattern piece and sewn in specific areas to create an elegant, tailored fit while preserving the garment’s natural gravity and flow.
